Day 2 (30-Day green smoothie challenge)

HOW DELICIOUS DOES THIS RAW FOOD LOOK?
(photo from www.rawpower.com)

This is day two and everything has been going great so far. I woke up bright and fresh, went for a 20 minute walk. The sun was warm and inviting. My green smoothie today was so tasty

Spinach Delight (Nina's favorite)

2 bananas
1 cup of red grapes
2 cups of spinach
1.5 cups of water

This is one of the best tasting smoothies, no child can resist this one. That's going to be my smoothie for the day. I've been drinking my water constantly and don't feel hungry. Well, I made a peanut butter sandwich for my hubby this morning and couldn't help enjoying the scent of that peanut butter but I am strong and dedicated to this, I didn't even have a lick!

Been reading a most fascinating book (tops my list of health books to read and believe me when I say I have a library of health related books.) I will leave you with a passage from the author:

"A fundamental error of all schools of so-called medicine has been the assumption that disease is something at war with life and that it must be met, subdued, counteracted, cast out, killed or cured with substances that are antagonistic to the body itself. They have never adequately recognized the antagonism that exists between living organism and the chemical substances with which they seek to cure the disease. This is the reason they continue to fill the bodies of the sick with poisons (foreign or non-usable chemicals) which the body must resist and expel. Not only have such causes of disease been mistaken as remedies for disease, but in some cases they have been mistaken for food."

He goes on to state how all drugs impair the body's function. You might want to pick up a copy for yourself, 'Self Healing Colitis & Crohn's' by David Klein, Ph.D. Here is his site:http://www.colitis-crohns.com/ I don't have colitis or crohn's but this book is for everyone who seeks optimum health, it is simply amazing and I'm not even half way through it. The testimonies and reviews alone sparked my curiosity.

Later on tonight (before 8pm, my kitchen closes at 8pm sharp) I will have some raw veggie medley with my dressing being freshly squeezed oranges and olive oil.

Come back for more tomorrow. We shall discuss blood PH and what you must know about how it affects your body. Ta ta!

Train Your Body to Talk Back to You

Learning how to listen to your body is wonderful. Your body can talk back to you when and if you treat it with respect, it's no different than human relationships. If you treat someone wrong long enough there is enough resentment for that person to start ignoring you. The thing about the body is that it is much more forgiving than humans in their relationships. How do you listen to your body? You first have to mend the broken relationship of years aof abuse and the best way to do that is to do a detox. Go to archives in the month of July and you will find the 21-day FYR program.

The Little Girl Who Said No to MacDonald's

The truth is that we can all make better choices even if we are in the worst of restuarants. My daughter learns from my actions. I may not necessarily use words but children are eager learners. If we start teaching them to make better choices from a ripe age it will save them a lifetime of health worries. I rarely worry about what choices my daughter will make. Let me tell you a little story about a little girl called Nina, who said no to MacDonald's. Nina just turned six this July. She watches mummy cook and shop. We make fresh carrot juices in the morning and eat fruits for breakfast etc. I do it with joy and she sees me, so it has become a habit for her as well. So recently, on vacation in another state with her grandparents and grand aunt, she goes to a Macdonald's to use their play ground. My daughter didn't not even nibble on her french fry not to talk of eating her burger! Her reason being "It is unhealthy" and when asked if she wanted some juice, milk shakes and all the rest, she simply declined and said she would rather drink water. When I was told this over the phone I had tears in my eyes. I laughed so hard that it hurt. You see, I am very proud of Nina, I have always said if there were just two things I could teach her in this life, it would be to love Jesus Christ and to eat healthy. Children learn from the examples they have around them, especially the examples of their parents. Give your child a better life by doing what you can do to have them live a fuller and healthier life. Long Live FYR!

The List

Fruits, veggies, legumes and whole wheat grains. You can find something to eat in these categories. Be creative and remember fruits only for breakfast and no eating after 8pm. NO PROCESSED FOODS AT ALL. NO MEAT, NO DAIRY, NO SUGAR.
Today I got up and walked. I had a glass of water in the morning with some freshly squeezed lemon in it. Today is an all fruit day for me. I love fruits, you can make it as a fruit salad, a smoothie or you can juice the fruits. There are many different knids of juicers out in the market, have your pick. For the smoothies use nothing but fruit and water or crushed ice in the blender. If you need to drink some tea during the day you can add some stevia to sweeten it. There are links below for stevia and juicers.

My Quaterly Detox

Tomorrow I am starting my next detox program for ten days. I have decided after that to do a 21 day raw food diet to continue my cleansing. There are sevaral ways to cleanse, but I always choose a natural and safe way; NO PILLS. I just simply change what I eat. I go on a fast. When people hear the word fast, they tend to run away because they think of starvation. There are several ways to fast without starving. Follow the FYR 21-day detox. Look in July's archives on your right.

The anatomy of soda

Would you on any day catch yourself sitting at your table with ten teaspoons of sugar ready to eat it all? Well, that's what you do when you drink a can of soda.
Did you know that coca-cola is the biggest buyer of sugar in the world? Have you ever wondered why they would need so much sugar? well it is to mask the acidity in the drink. 10 teaspoons of sugar! that amout of sugar is enough to shut down your immune system for 24 hours. Plus I wonder what can be so strong as to erode your tooth enamel, well the sugar and acids in sodas does. What do you think causes osteoporosis? Did you know that sugar from one soft drink is able to damage the white blood cells' ability to ingest and kill gonococcal bacteria for seven hours? That just one liter of aspartame-sweetened beverage can produce about fifty-six milligrams of methanol? When many of these drinks are are consumed in say, one day, as much as two hundred- fifty milligrams of methanol are dumped into the bloodstream and this throws off the eletrical system of the brain. Saccharin in these products have also shown a high carcinogenic effect especially in female reproductive organs, this is as little as two bottles of diet pops per day. I also know that cops sometimes use coke to clean blood off the street after an auto accident and sometimes use it to replace the acid in thier dead car batteries. Plus many countries in Asia use coke and it's products as pesticides on thier large farms. They actually spray it from helicopters and guess what? it works! So what are you really drinking? All this hype of if you drink a coke you are helping some fund which is providing for some third world country is a whole lot of junk. You can't kill one human being in order to save another. They might as well put a coffin in their commercials, yes you may think that's extreme talk but I ask you and challenge you to do the research before you drink your next soda.

I have often wondered why in a country that has so much food, why more and more peole are getting sicker and sicker. In developing countries it is due to the lack of food (malnutrition) and good health care facilities but here, there are more sick children, in short I think it is safe to say all Americans, including me, are sick in some way. All the years of ignorance and feeding the body with life threatening foods cannot be altered in one day but we can slowly get there by starting now. As they say "Better late than never". We can start a revolution! we can choose to be the examples for our children and neighbours. We can say no to GMO foods(genetically modified foods). Foods that keep us enslaved to prescription drugs, foods than cripple us of our dignity, foods that KILL us.

The first basic human right is the right to live and live a healthy life. Things might be tight financially for you but is it better to start eating right right now or save that money for mediacl use down the years. Think, use your brain, do research, love yourelf, love yourself a little differently as the FYR slogan says. Start a forver young revolution right in your own kitchen, in your backyard, in your churches. What are you waiting for?

L'Thai Restaurant

If you are like most people dinning out is an experience, at least for me it is. I make it a habit to choose where I eat and a couple of days ago my husband stumbled upon one of the fine dinning spots in Tucker; L'Thai. It is the first organic Thai restaurant outside of Thailand. So we decided yeaterday to go have an experience. From the outside you would never guess how beautiful it looked inside. I was taken aback by the classy decor. It had a very relaxing atmosphere with a little waterfall at the back of the restuarant. White plates stacked together adorned the maple tables and long stemmed glasses stood tall like candles. The moment I sat down I knew I was in for a treat. The pretty waitress came by in her lavender outfit (my favorite color by the way) her smile was infectious but much more the menu was great and the prices very resonable.

I got some tofu for appetizers and a ginger/garlic sauce (I'm addicted) veggie medly and some brown rice for my entree. Mind you, all this is organic, meaning no additives, preservatives or hormones. And if you want to add chicken you can rest assured knowing it is really chicken on your plate and not an alien. The prices are a little more expensive for dinner but for lunch they rancge from $4.95 for appetizers to $20.95 for specials. Lunch for entrees is a resonable $7.95 per plate. Now you can specify your how spicy you want it to be and sure enough they will do it just right. For those who like a little buzz, they have a great wine list and for the sweet toothers some desserts as well. If I were to grade this whole experience I would give it a solid 8 points and I am usually not that generous.

Adress: 4880 Lawrenceville Hwy, 14-16
Tucker, GA 30084

Phone: 770-491-9948 they do take out as well and have two more locations in Smyrna and Alpharetta.

Back to Basics

Instead of getting confused over everything the news reports or doesn't report on health and nutrition, why don't you just do this: STICK TO THE BASICS! When you stick to the basic you are never wrong, we only harm ourselves when we contradict ourselves. The basics are Fruits, Veggetables, legumes, nuts and seeds. Meat (as even said in the Bible) should be eaten sparingly and that does not mean once or twice a week, sparingly means hardly ever. We are the only people who wean our children of milk just to turn around and feed them another mother's milk(in most cases cow's milk). It should not suprise us then how many people have osteoporosis. There is more Calcium in broccoli, celery and almonds than there is in milk. Next time you're at the groccery store stop by the organic section and grab a carton of almond vanilla flavored milk, it is a better alternative to use with your cereal and oatmeal than cow's milk. The reason most people are tired, depressed, overwhelmed etc can be traced back to what they eat. The closer your food is to nature the more energy you'll have. Remember; Back to basics.

What are you ingesting for breakfast?

The whole idea of cow's milk is just a way for those who've invested in the business to make huge profits. If you were asked to go to a barn and suckle on the udder of a cow would you? why then do we drink cow's milk? because it has been conveniently packaged for us in a container? Do you know that cows are naturally not made to produce milk in such large quantities? They have just enough for their young. What are they given to speed up this process? well, hormones I would think. This causes enlargement and inflammation of their breast tissues and for those of us who have studied biology this can be a very painful process. And what happens when an area is inflamed? Pus begins to accumulate. What is pus? Pus consists of a thin, protein-rich fluid, known as liquor puris, and dead cells, which are part of the body's innate immune response. Pus travels to the intercellular spaces around the affected areas; the cow's udders. Yes and you may be saying, don't they pasturize these things? pasturization not only kills the bacteria in it, it also destroys all the nutrients in the food. So when next you go to buy milk or when you're handing a glass of cow's milk to your child, remember that they may just be ingesting pus for breakfast. This goes for cow milk and all its products including cheese, well that's another topic. We will talk about cheese on another day.

SUPER FOODS

My five favorite superfoods are:

1) Vegetables: They are high in fiber and low in calorie. They can be eaten lightly cooked or raw and they are packed with vitamins and phytonutrients. My favorite are kale, spinach, broccoli and carrots.

2) Fruits and Nuts: I always mix these two for breakfast in the morning. The nuts add some protein to the mixture and it is oh so delish!!! I love berries because they are full of antioxidants, sometimes I make a smoothie with just blackberries, strawberries and rapsberries. Fruits will provide you with vitamins, folate and they are very essential in cleansing the body that's why FYR recommends fruits for breakfast. Nuts are a good source of proteins and good fats. I especially love walnuts and almonds.

3) Whole Grains: Brown rice, whole wheat bread, barley, quinoa etc. they are ladden with tons of fiber, magnesium and vitamins.

4) Cayenne Pepper: Cayenne pepper has come to be one of the best herbs for me in the recent months. Organic cayenne has huge medicinal benefits. It has been used over the years for its healing properties. To read more about cayenne please visit this link: http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/cayenne.htm

5) Beans and Lentils: Beans are low in fat, calorie, sodium and are very high in fiber and complex carbohydrates. They are an excellent source of protein and can be combined with veggies and carbohydrates (such as brown rice). When combined with barley or oats they provide all the amino acids. Examples are chickpeas(which I use to make hummus), kidney beans, black, pinto and navy beans and soy beans.

WHAT ARE LIFE FOODS?

Life foods are foods that are in their natural state. Foods that have not been processed, destroyed by overheating. Foods that are free of pesticides and antibiotics. Life foods give you energy; they heal and repair rather than make you tired and sluggish. If you can only remember this :Life foods are alive and dead foods are dead. At FYR, anything that can grow when planted into the soil is alive. Can you plant chicken? can you plant a spoon? yes, but will they grow? no. but you can plant wheat and apple seeds. The best kinds of foods are those that are organic and wholesome. It may take a while to introduce these into your diet but it is worth it. Sometimes I go to the farmer's market and I wonder if the soil the produce was grown in was healthy to begin with. If it was not a healthy soil then eating all the fruits and veggies in the world would not benefit me in anyway. All fruits and veggies are life foods. At FYR we encourage you to incorporate as much of these life foods into your diet as possible. FYR is far from boring, we have looked into every diet out there and realized you cannot ask people to starve themselves without getting a consequence; that consequence is yo-yo- dieting.

About FYR

Are you tired of counting calories?

Tired of portion control?

Tried all the diet and weight loss pills in vain?

Do you have a close relationship with your scale?

Feeling ten years older because of stress?

Do you love what you see in the mirror?

Ever wish you could try a different lifestyle?

Do you want to Love your self a little differently?

Then join the revolution!!!

Like so many people, I have been confused for so many years about health. I had too many questions that had several different answers hence my yo-yo dieting effect. Some people said eat a lot of meat, others stay away from carbohydrates, others said eat nothing at all, well for someone who enjoys food the last one never seemed to work for me and even if I tried it I'd end up overindulging, sound familiar?

Well, I am here to tell you what works for me and has been working for many others who finally found the secret to good health. It is called “The Forever Young Revolution” or FYR to be short. It does not involve any pills, diets or magic. It is simply something that most of us used to do or have seen our parents do.
It is based on a very simple principle which I call the life principle. It states; life to live. Let me go a little further to explain this. We need life in order to live, without life we die. For our bodies to live and thrive, we must give it life, life foods.

FYR is a lifestyle.

What are some of your unanswered health and fitness questions? We will love to share them and you will find solutions that will blow mind. The answers have been around you all this time, yes it is very close to you.Now its time to reach out and grab it.

You will hear unedited testimonies from the those who have dared to love themselves differently and what FYR is doing to thier lives and rebuilding broken relationships.

Welcome to the "I just Love myself a little differently" Lifestyle!
